Spiritual Growth & Renewal Programs
A. New Focus Points
a. The 2011 Spiritual Growth & Renewal program will revolve around 6 major initiatives:
i. The Global Leadership Summit & Process Follow Up
ii. The Truth Project
iii. Ellwood Stokes Lecture Series
iv. American Association of Christian Counselor's
Counselor Programs
v. Acts 29 School of the Bible
a. Live Conferences
b. On-going weekly & monthly discipleship training programs
vi. E-Conference Growth
vii. Conference & Retreat packages
B. Global Leadership Summit
a. Annual two-day world-class leadership training event
b. August 11 & 12, 2011 in the Youth Temple
c. Summit Speakers to be announced on March 31, 2011
d. OGCMA has developed a significant relationship with 12 local churches who will be
deeply involved in the marketing of the 2011 GLS.
e. Ocean Grove has developed a follow-up processing tool to allow leaders to go deeper
into selected topics during the time between the Summits.
C. The Truth Project
a. Offered the complete 12 session Truth Project worldview training during the summer
and into September of 2010.
b. Training curriculum includes overviews in Truth, Philosophy, Anthropology,
Theology, Science, History, Sociology, Law, etc, all from a biblical worldview
c. Summer 2011 will have evening classes that will meet in homes throughout town,
the initial session will be held on Monday June 27th at 7pm in the Community Room and
groups will be established at that meeting.
f. Additional goal was to train participants in the class to lead The Truth
Project in their home churches...to date 5 participants have signed on to do
just that...multiplying the ministry!
D. Walk Thru The Bible
a. Nationally recognized 1-day presentations through the Old and New Testament.
b. Scheduled as a key-component to 2011 Camp Meeting Week schedule.
c. Old Testament Seminar: Thursday August 4, 10:30 - 5:00
d. New Testament Seminar: Friday August 5, 10:30 - 5:00
E. E-Conferences
a. 2011 Events
i. Truth Project Training Event March 2011, date to be announced
ii. You & Your Girl simulcast on April 9, 2011
iii. Epicenter Conference with Joel Rosenberg, tbd
iv. AACC Counselor Training program, later in 2011
b. Exploring the possibilities of offering Dave Ramsey Financial
ministry offerings in early 2011.
F. AACC (American Association of Christian Counselors)
a. Program developed through AACC to minister to people affected by Cancer through a
multi-level program entitled: Challenging Cancer. This program is being led by Nancy |
Hoffman and Megan Faulkner. The program began on January 10 and is weekly at
Grove Hall for 10 weeks.
b. Plans to Launch: “Caring For People God’s Way” accredited lay counseling
training program in Spring 2011 as a part of our new focus in training
ministry leaders were interrupted by the fact that the delivery company went out of
business. Plans still underway to provide the 30 session program sometime in 2011,
depending on the status of the provider.
G. Youth Worker University
a. Full schedule of events for 2011, complete with a significant marketing piece, including
the following programs:
* June: 3 Story Evangelism with Tom Hodges
* August 3: Parent & Teen Seminar with guest speaker
* October: Multiplying Student Leaders with David Burke
b. Working with David Burke to roll this out on a more significant scale in
2011 to involve more churches and train more leaders
H. Ellwood Stokes Lecture Series
a. Two Tuesday nights in July, an evangelical lecture series with two prominent Christian
authors.
b. Held in the Tabernacle @ 7:30
c. Tuesday July 12: Eric Metaxas, author of Amazing Grace & Bonhoeffer biography
d. Tuesday July 19: William Paul Young, author of The Shack
I. The Forge Conference...September 29 - October 1
a. We hosted a very significant Worship Arts Technology Summit, called "The Forge Conference" on September 30 - October 2 in 2010.
What happened:
1. People came from all over the country to participate
2. Proved our ability to pull off a major conference event
3. Received unqualified positive feedback from attendees
4. Learned an amazing amount about hosting this type of event
5. Helped equip many small/midsize church worship leaders to
go back to their church better prepared & on fire
6. Received multiple sponsorships from national organizations
b. As a result: We will be hosting FORGECON II!
c. Up & coming Integrity artists will lead worship at the Friday evening concert and teach workshops during the conference itself.
d. This Conference will utilize10 different venues around the campus and gave us some
truly great experience for hosting future events.
e. Date for 2011: September 29 - October 1, with the potential for a "Song Writer"
One-Day Conference on September 28
f. Theme for 2011: Ancient-Future and the Small to mid-size Church
J. Love Worth Fighting For Marriage Conference...September 17, 2011 - 6:00 p.m.
a. Kirk Cameron, (Growing Pains & Fireproof) and Warren Barfield lead a one day marriage
seminar designed to biblically and practically strengthen your marriage.
b. Feed Your Faith Ministries are producing these events all over the country and Ocean
Grove has been selected as the New York region location for 2011.
c. Our only exposure with this conference is the purchase of 100 tickets @ $40/couple
d. Last year over 40,000 attended these conferences and the reviews have been
tremendous.
K. The One-Thing Conference...September 22-24, 2011
a. A significant youth oriented conference sponsored by the International House of Prayer
and their growing youth ministry focus.
b. One-Thing holds these regional conferences all over the country and has selected Ocean
Grove as their Northeast location.
c. This ministry is aimed at sharing the gospel to teenagers, with a special emphasis on
developing the prayer life of young people.
d. The conference is designed to speak directly to teens AND parents in a ministry of
healing and reconciliation and offering the hope of the Gospel.
L. Acts 29 School
a. The goal of the Acts 29 school is to speak into the church of the 21st century from the Word of God, as we seek to allow the Spirit of God to write "the next chapter" in the history of His church.
b. This is an on-going opportunity for discipleship development and training where people will come and spend time together in the community of Ocean Grove and learn and grow together and become better prepared to minister and develop Christian communities of their own.
c. The initial training group will be centered around the concept of: "What God is Saying to the Church" through an in-depth study in the Book of Revelation, with application to the Christian community of the 21st century, led by Rev. Scott Hoffman, author of the book, Acts 29: Writing the Next Chapter."
d. This class will begin on November 3rd and be held on Wednesday evenings at the Barbaric Bean Coffee Shop on Main Ave.
M. Shalom Ministries
a. Partnered together with Shalom Ministries to host a Shalom Zone training event in October of 2010
b. Partnered with Shalom Ministries to host a Shalom Zone Week in Ocean Grove June 21-26 of 2010
d. Shalom had seminars all day long and worshipped together in the evening.
e. Plans have been formalized for June 20-25, 2011 Shalom Week event with Paul Moore leading Bible Hour and incorporating Bible Hour into the
Week.
N. Biblical Resources Seminar w/Dr. James Fleming
a. Annual August seminar with Dr. Fleming, following the August 22-26 Bible Hour.
b. Dr. Fleming will teach Bible Hour August 22-27 and hold the in-depth seminar,
Monday - Friday at Grove Hall following Bible Hour.
c. Topic - Life of the Farmer through the Parables of Jesus
O. Financial Peace University
a. Karen Adams, our Grove Hall manager, facilitated a financial planning seminar series from Dave Ramsey entitled, Financial Peace University.
b. This program was held in conjunction with St. Paul's UMC from January through March
c. There were 15 families who participated in this program and total debt reduction over the period of the study totaled $60,000
d. The program was also picked up by another local church as a result of a participant in our offering.
e. We are currently exploring the opportunity to take this program further and add another course offering in 2011.
