Welcome to the Discipleship Training Center
Concept
Ocean Grove has long been a place of spiritual birth, growth and renewal and we envision a new advancement of that mission through our new Discipleship Training Center concept. We envision Ocean Grove continuing its tradition of being a significant resource to the local church by meeting the needs for discipleship and leadership training for clergy and lay persons alike.
The ultimate goal of the Discipleship Training Center would be to become a place where Jesus followers can come to follow the model that Jesus used in growing disciples. The goal of coming to spend time together; learning and growing, and then departing for your own place of ministry better prepared and equipped to serve the Kingdom. It would be the goal of the Center for a continuing relationship with all participants for assessment and evaluation of the practical applications of the training that takes place at the Center.
The Ocean Grove Discipleship Training Center would become a place that would enable the local churches from all over the region to help design, implement, and take place in professional, quality training opportunities that would not be possible in the local church setting. In addition to the opportunity to develop training programs and events that require larger settings and more significant investments, we would offer the compelling feature of local churches and their leaders coming together to share from their own successes and challenges.
The Discipleship Training Center would enable local church leaders and members to participate in on-going training and single event formats where nationally known presenters would lead via state of the art conference capabilities. The Center would offer single day events and longer term retreat options, complete with housing, meeting facilities, and training tools, all in the setting of a Christian seaside resort.
The Discipleship Training Center would annually host the Willow Creek Leadership Summit; become the retreat location for the New York City Leadership Center; host Youth Specialties and Group Magazine training events as a part of our Youth Worker University; sponsor live simulcast training events and programs via the Christian Communication Network satellite system; host Biblical counseling training through the auspices of the American Association of Christian Counselors; partner with Bible Colleges and Seminaries as a satellite location for course work and training; plan, implement and host in-house seminars and retreats that are co-designed by the local churches utilizing them; host world-renown speakers and teachers in the area of leadership and discipleship training on a regular basis throughout the year, just to highlight a few of our preliminary concepts.
The Discipleship Training Center would begin by utilizing the extensive facilities and resources of the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association that are capable of handling groups from 5 to 500. Additionally, seasonally, we can handle larger audiences in our historic Great Auditorium facility. Our goal would be to continue to acquire facilities and resources to expand the potential for the growth of the Center and meet the ever increasing needs of the New York market.
Additionally, we would plan to expand the Discipleship Training Center to include full-time and adjunct faculty members who would lead the Center into the future and create a training facility in discipleship that is second to none. We would expand in personnel, in facilities, in technology, in state of the art conference and seminar production and in advanced training and equipping ministries as the Center continues to build on the great tradition of preparing clergy and lay people alike for ministry in His Kingdom.
