Love does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; I Corinthians 13:6
By John DiGiamberardino
There is a lot of rejoicing or at least recognition that happens in our culture when it comes to evil. Movies celebrate murder and sin. Television shows are based on misunderstanding and miscommunication. Articles we read on the internet or in the paper focus on the problems and tend to stir up negativity.
One question is where do we get our truth?
The place where the truth most often occurs is in worship. There is something about hearing truth proclaimed, whether it be in a hymn or spiritual song or from the preacher. It moves us to affirm and agree with what we have heard. We might clap, we might say ”AMEN”, we might even tell someone else what we have heard that was meaningful and important. Another place where we receive the truth is in our own personal reading and study of God’s Word.
Have you been rejoicing in the truth? Checking my thesaurus, rejoice means - celebrate, cheer, exult, express joy, are glad, delight. Have you been rejoicing in the truth?
How do you intend to rejoice? When was the last time your rejoiced in the truth?
We are not to rejoice in evil but to rejoice in the truth. Make sure you are taking the opportunities to hear and receive truth and when you receive it….rejoice in it!
