Ocean Grove Sets Up Relief Fund for Fire Victims
(Tuesday, Feb 10, Ocean Grove, NJ) The Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association (OGCMA)
announced that a relief fund has been set up for residents of 50 Main Avenue, who lost their
apartments in a devastating fire that took place in Ocean Grove NJ on Friday February 6.
The cause of the fire, which is still under investigation, also destroyed several businesses on the
main commercial artery of this close-knit seaside community, which was founded in 1869.
“Everyone responded to this crisis with compassion and concern,” said Arnold Texiera, owner of
The Starving Artists, a popular local restaurant. “The response has been so overwhelming, that
we are no longer accepting donations of clothing and merchandise." Instead, the public is
being encouraged to send their tax-deductible donations to:
“50 Main Ave. Fire Relief"
Central Jersey Bank, 61 Main Ave.
Ocean Grove, NJ 07756
“Above all, we would like to acknowledge and thank the Neptune Township Fire, Police and
EMS Departments, as well as our neighboring communities’ first responders, who quickly
averted a potential disaster,” said J.P. Gradone, OGCMA's Executive Director.
Mary Ellen Tellefsen, V.P. of the Ocean Grove Chamber of Commerce added: “We also want
the public to know that Ocean Grove is still open for business. There are many shops,
restaurants and other commercial establishments that were not affected by the fire.”

Recent Tent Fires:
In related news, the Ocean Grove First Department and other community Fire Departments also recently did wonderful work at restricting a fire in the Tent Colony to only a few tents. There were no injuries reported. One tent was destroyed and several others were damaged to the extent that they will have to be re-built. The Trustees and Staff of the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association are working in cooperation with the Township of Neptune to reconstruct the tents in a timely fashion. Again, prayers are appreciated.
United Methodist Communications (UMCom) released two videos they took at Ocean Grove in 2015: Historic Methodist Camp is “God’s Square Mile” and Ocean Grove’s Great Auditorium. Check them out on:
