Inspired by Colossians 1 and 1 Timothy 1

Leader: Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God.

People: He is the firstborn over all creation.

Leader: In Christ all things were created.

People: All things have been created through Him and for Him.

Leader: He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.

People: God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in His Son.

Leader: By making peace through Christ’s blood shed on the cross, God will reconcile all things.

People: Now to that King eternal, immortal, invisible, Who is the only God,
be honor and glory forever and ever.
Amen!

*HYMN

“Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise”

W.C. Smith/Welsh melody adapt. J. Roberts

Immortal, invisible, God only wise,

In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,

Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,

Almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise.

Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,

Nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might:

Thy justice like mountains high soaring above

Thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love.

To all, life Thou givest, to both great and small;

In all life Thou livest, the true life of all;

We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,

And wither and perish, but naught changeth Thee.

Thou reignest in glory; Thou dwellest in light;

Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight;

All laud we would render: O help us to see

Tis only the splendor of light hideth Thee!

*APOSTLES’ CREED

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day He arose from the dead;

He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen

*HYMN

“All the Way My Savior Leads Me”

Fanny Crosby / Robert Lowry

All the way my Savior leads me;

What have I to ask beside?

Can I doubt His tender mercy,

Who thro’ life has been my Guide?

Heav’nly peace, divinest comfort,

Here by faith in Him to dwell!

For I know, whate’er befall me,

Jesus doeth all things well;

For I know, whate’er befall me,

Jesus doeth all things well.

All the way my Savior leads me,

Cheers each winding path I tread,

Gives me grace for every trial,

Feeds me with the living bread.

Tho’ my weary steps may falter,

And my soul athirst may be,

Gushing from the Rock before me,

Lo! a spring of joy I see;

Gushing from the Rock before me,

Lo! a spring of joy I see.

All the way my Savior leads me;

O the fullness of His love!

Perfect rest to me is promised

In my Father’s house above.

When my spirit, clothed, immortal,

Wings its flight to realms of day,

This my song through endless ages:

“Jesus led me all the way.”

This my song thro’ endless ages:

“Jesus led me all the way.”

ANTHEM

“All Things New”

Elaine Hagenberg

Light after darkness, gain after loss.

Strength after weakness, crown after cross.

Sweet after bitter, hope after fears,

Home after wandering, praise after tears.

Alpha and Omega, beginning and the end.

He is making all things new.

Springs of living water shall wash away each tear.

He is making all things new.

He is making all things new.

Sight after mystery, sun after rain.

Joy after sorrow, peace after pain;

Near after distant, gleam after gloom,

Love after loneliness, life after tomb.

Alpha and Omega, beginning and the end.

He is making all things new.

Springs of living water shall wash away each tear.

He is making all things new,

He is making all, He is making all,

He is making all things new.

SERMON

Dr. Stephen Lennox

Former President
Kingswood University, New Brunswick, CA

“Fear Not” — Joshua 1:1-9

*CLOSING HYMN

“When We All Get to Heaven”

Eliza Hewitt / Emily Wilson

Sing the wondrous love of Jesus,

Sing His mercy and His grace;

In the mansions bright and blessed,

He’ll prepare for us a place.

When we all get to heaven,

What a day of rejoicing that will be!

When we all see Jesus,

We’ll sing and shout the victory.

While we walk the pilgrim pathway,

Clouds will overspread the sky;

But when traveling days are over,

Not a shadow, not a sigh.

When we all get to heaven,

What a day of rejoicing that will be!

When we all see Jesus,

We’ll sing and shout the victory.

Let us then be true and faithful,

Trusting, serving every day;

Just one glimpse of Him in glory

Will the toils of life repay.

When we all get to heaven,

What a day of rejoicing that will be!

When we all see Jesus,

We’ll sing and shout the victory.

Onward to the prize before us,

Soon His beauty we’ll behold;

Soon the pearly gates will open,

We shall tread the streets of gold.

When we all get to heaven,

What a day of rejoicing that will be!

When we all see Jesus,

We’ll sing and shout the victory.
